Getting here

Travel

Flying

The best way to get to Timişoara from Central, South and Western Europe is flying with a layover in Germany (Munich/Frankfurt). Belgrade and Budapest are other options. We'll explain below each option.

Possible Options:

  1. Timisoara

Tested throughout the years, this is by far the most convenient, fastest and nowadays even cheapest way of getting to Timişoara. With a fast security check in Zurich/Geneva, a layover of 1-1.5h just enough for coffee, and 2.5h of flying, you'll be in 4-5h from airport to airport.

    Google Flights:

  2. Belgrade

Belgrade has a direct flight from Zurich. Renting a car from the airport is typically cheap and it takes 2-2.5 hours to reach Timisoara. Note that Serbia is not in EU which means that you might spend more time at the borders control and need to check the conditions for taking a rented car from Belgrade outside of Serbia.

  3. Budapest

Budapest has a direct flight from Zurich and Basel, but it takes 4h from the Airport to Timişoara and you need to book a seat in a minivan (which means that the minivan will wait for other passengers to land as well, which may lead to 2-3h wait in the airport in Budapest).

Driving

Driving from Zurich to Timişoara is also thoroughly tested (last time was in September :) ). It's a nice trip to do as you can be on the highway from Zurich all the way to Timişoara or you can take a picturesque route through the Austrian Alps. We recommend to stop in Vienna on the way (it's half way).

  2. Mountains passes on the way

Staying here

Accommodation

We'll try to organise accommodation near the venue for anyone that needs is, so please let us know in the RSVP form if you'd like that. However, if you plan to stay longer in Timişoara and would like to enjoy the city, we recommend staying in the city center. There are many nice Airbnbs in "Uniri Square" and Victoria Square. There are also nice large hotels like Continental or chic boutique hotels all over the city center. Feel free to ping us before booking to double-check :). We'll add some recommendations here soon too.
